Wool is the original miracle fiber. It’s naturally stain, wrinkle and water-resistant, so our products rarely need cleaning. In fact the best way to refresh your woolens is the natural way: Simply shake or gently brush the woolens and hang them outdoors.
Dry Clean Only Products
Dry cleaning is recommended. You can also hand wash in cold water with a mild cleaning agent designed for wool. Hand wash does not mean the Gentle or Hand Wash cycle in a washing machine, as the agitation can cause the fibers to interlock. Line dry, taking care to rotate the woolen to prevent stretching. Iron only on low, only if necessary. Do not bleach. If these instructions aren’t followed significant shrinkage and a change in texture could occur.
Machine Wash Products
Machine wash cold, separately, on a gentle cycle. A gentle cleaning agent designed for wool is recommended. Side load washing machines are the gentlest. Tumble dry low, removing promptly when dry. Line drying is also recommended, taking care to rotate the woolen to prevent stretching. Iron only on low, only if necessary. Do not use fabric softener, as it can increase pilling. Do not bleach.
If a blanket, throw or scarf wrinkles you can simply hang it for a day and wrinkles will smooth out, usually within 24 hours. Woolens can also be ironed on a low setting or carefully steamed.
Most Faribault woolens have been treated to make them moth resistant. It’s best to brush them clean –or, if soiled, clean them following the instructions above- and store them in airtight container when not in use for extended periods. Cedar and herbal products offer limited protection, and only when the fragrance is very strong.
Pilling Prevention and Removal
Pilling is caused by wool fibers becoming intertwined on the surface of the woolen as a result of wear or abrasion, even with gentle use. The finer the wool, the more susceptible it is to pilling. A lint brush or nylon-bristled garment brush are the most effective way to remove pills. Brush in the same direction, along the length of the woolen. Regular, gentle brushing can prevent most pilling.

If for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, we will gladly accept the return of merchandise for refund within thirty (30) days of purchase, provided that the condition of the item returned is consistent with the condition originally shipped and received upon purchase. To facilitate holiday gift giving, orders placed between November 1st – December 23rd can be returned through January 31st. Faribault Woolen Mill Company reserves the right to inspect and determine the condition of such returned product for purposes of providing an exchange or refund. For example, merchandise is required to be free of pet hair, stains, burns, odors and not subject to any wash cycle. In cases where the returned merchandise does not meet these criteria, customers will be contacted and a $10 shipping fee will apply to have the merchandise shipped back. All returned items must bear the Faribault Woolen Mill Company label.
Please use the Return Merchandise form included with your order to return or exchange merchandise. Proof of purchase, including your original order number, is required for all returns and exchanges. In the event of a refund, we will credit your original method of payment for the merchandise purchase price. The customer shall be responsible for the cost of shipping for returned merchandise to Faribault Woolen Mill Company. To make it easy for you, all web orders will include a peel off return shipping label. No postage is necessary. The return shipping fee of $10.00 will be deducted from your total refund.
Returns After 30 Days
Returns after thirty (30) days of the original purchase date, for reasons of defects in material or workmanship (normal wear and tear excluded), will be repaired or exchanged for new product. In the event that the returned item is no longer in production, we will supply a substitute as close as possible in terms of quality and value. The item must be cleaned according to the care label. The decision to repair or replace an item shall be at the sole discretion of Faribault Woolen Mill Company. The customer shall be responsible for the cost of shipping the product to Faribault Woolen Mill Company. In the event the return is the result of a defect in material or workmanship, Faribault Woolen Mill Company will pay the cost of shipping for the new or repaired item.

When there is NOT a shipping promotion standard shipping is FREE on all orders of $150 or more within the contiguous United States. $10 flat rate shipping for orders less than $150 in the contiguous United States. Regular standard shipping rates apply for the following areas: Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Expedited delivery services are available for all areas, continental and non-continental, for an additional charge. Faribault Woolen Mill Co. reserves the right, in our sole discretion, to change our delivery policy and delivery fees at any time.
Purchased items are typically shipped within one to two business days however occasionally it may take up to seven business days from order placement. Orders received after 1pm CST will be processed the following day. Orders received after 1pm CST on Friday will be processed the next business day.
All orders are shipped via UPS and rates are calculated through a UPS calculator. MUST HAVE VALID STREET ADDRESS/NO PO BOXES. Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for delivery to arrive. If you still have not received your purchase after 3 weeks, please notify email@example.com.
